LAND

Elphinstone Land Ltd, a 50/50 joint venture between the directors of Elphinstone and Bank of Scotland, was created to identify and acquire strategic land sites. Since its formation in 2002, Elphinstone Land has accumulated a land-bank extending to over 900 acres, a substantial proportion of which has planning consent or is zoned for residential or commercial development.

During the last year, Elphinstone Land has sold two sites, 125 acres at Slackbuie in Inverness and 25 acres at Deaconsbank in Glasgow.  In the same period, Elphinstone Land acquired 46 acres of land at Baillieston and interest in a site at Clarkston in Glasgow, and Strathaven in Lanarkshire.

The company’s current activities include the following:

As part of a consortium, Elphinstone Land is involved in the development of 119 acres at Greenlaw, Newton Mearns, Glasgow. Subject to detailed planning, this will comprise 350 homes, including affordable housing, business park, hotel, neighbourhood shopping centre and land for a school.

Scottish Exhibition Centre Ltd has appointed Elphinstone Land as the preferred developer of a site on the banks of the River Clyde, an initiative that will provide £50 million to build a new Arena for Glasgow. Elphinstone Land is planning to transform part of the 64-acre site into a £350 million sustainable urban village providing homes for families, work/live properties, serviced apartments and mainstream housing. The aim is to create an urban village with a range of local services and facilities including a primary school, nursery, restaurants, pubs, cafes,  mini-supermarket, chemist, doctor, dentist and much more.
